On Thursday morning, April 21, IFModules eMail Manager experienced an unprecedented outage of our infrastructure provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS). This outage affected us as well as companies such as Hootsuite, Wildfire, Reddit and Heroku. In short, AWS experienced problems with the network that caused some servers to freeze up, making them inaccessible to eMail Manager customers. On Friday morning, Amazon began to restore service and little by little, customers came back online. By Friday evening, all affected eMail Manager customers were functioning normally again. The good news in all of this was that there was absolutely no loss of data.

According to a February 18, 2011 article in eMarketer, the most powerful form of product marketing is still by word-of-mouth. As the usage of social media sites increases, consumers are able to get their thoughts and feelings out about everything from world events to favorite products. The “GlobalWebIndex Annual Report 2011” from Trendstream and Lightspeed Research (an eMail Manager customer !) reports that there is a behavior shift from creating content to sharing content. So who do we trust as a source for information?…..the report shows that there is a nearly 50% increase of internet users worldwide who trust product recommendations from social networking the most. As many of our customers come back to work after this Easter weekend, they may notice that eMail Manager has a few new features. That is, of course, because eMail Manager v5.5 has been updated for all existing customers. Some have been migrated to newer, faster servers, and some to servers closer to home (in Europe). Customers can also view features under the Setup: Release Notes (administrators only) or read about feature descriptions in the Help Section within eMail Manager.
